The easy, effective way to get a website for your small business!
By: Doug Hoseck
I have just started a business and found that it is really easy to do so. Maybe it’s the age that I’m at, but it seems that all my friends are doing, or planning to do, the same. Everyone I know who is going through the process, is really excited about it and there seems to be remarkable sharing of information amongst us. Naturally, we all want to tap into the internet as a means to grow our fledgling businesses, but we all had the impression that it would be an expensive, time consuming and technologically challenging process to create a website. So I took it upon myself to investigate and find a solution which would help us all.
I hit the internet with intention, surfing until I had a stiff ‘left mouse click’ finger and square, red eyes. The options were mind boggling and left me feeling a little more confused than when I first started. This is the experience that all my friends had too! This is where most of them gave up and started looking for a local web developer. The quotes that came in were enough to scare the bejeezers out of a hardened entrepreneur; you can guess what it did to us noobie business people. So I returned to the internet, more determined than ever to find a solution for our website woes. Searching and surfing, surfing and searching, until finally, I found the solution.
Late one night, tired from surfing too much, I found the most elegant answer you could imagine. Immediately I perked up with a sense of excitement, and a certain sense of relief that I had found the solution. I came across a site called www.farseerdesign.com which sells the most incredible website templates. I found professionally designed sites for almost any business you can think of, each one better than the last. The greatest and most exciting part was the price; I simply could not believe what I saw. I was looking at professionally designed websites that were on sale for around $65. This was too good to be true, what was the catch? I investigated some more…
I checked it out from north to south, from home page to contact us and found nothing but endless solutions and no catches. They offer it all, whether you are technologically challenged or competent, they have the answer. For those who are challenged, you simply start by choosing the perfect website template for your business. Then you can get it fully customized online, by simply clicking the ‘customize this site’ link where you buy the template. Whether you simply want to insert your content or whether you want to completely change the template, you can have it all done online. It just could not get any simpler and the low cost makes it really worthwhile in terms of timesaving for you.
For the more technologically competent, you have the choice of building you site online or, of course, buying one of the templates and inserting your own content. If you want to insert your own content, you will need certain software like photoshop, dreamweaver and/or flash, depending on the template you choose, and you do need to know how the software works. If you want to build your own site online, you just need to know what you want your site to do; all the tools you need to create it are available online. Just follow the link to ‘build your own site online’ and in no time at all you can have a personally designed site on the web. The best part is that no matter what option you choose, the final bill will be lower than if you get your site created by a web developer. It doesn’t even stop there, www.farseerdesign.com have also done all the research regarding hosting options and posted links on their site.
Building a website, or adapting a template, is only the first step. Once you have your site, you need a space on the internet to put your site; a hosting account. They have found some really brilliant hosting options. The one that they recommend is a site called www.thehostingpost.com which offers some very attractive deals, like a 5gb site for only $3.99/month and .com domain registration for an incredibly low $7.85/year. Add to that numerous ongoing specials such as domain registration for $3.99 if you purchase any other non-domain product. I did compare them to quite a few others, but eventually went back and signed with www.thehostingpost.com. You can register your chosen domain name and open your hosting account online. Then you simply ftp your new site to your hosting account, using the details they will e-mail to you and any one of a number of free ftp software packages. And that is it, your website is online.
I could not believe how easy it turned out to be, to get a website for my business, on the internet. It took me all of one day to get my site online. One day and a whole lot less money than I had been expecting to pay. I want to thank the amazing people behind www.farseerdesign.com for their remarkable site, which has simplified my life unbelievably and, of course, the folks at www.thehostingpost.com for their prompt and efficient service.
